...in one afternoon

It’s hard to believe how much you can see and do in a day! We arrived to our hostel at 1:30 on Thursday, and felt like the day should be pretty much over (which could be due to the fact that we didn’t sleep as much as we were supposed to on the overnight flight, landing at 8:45am and starting like it was a new day). But we decided to get a day pass to the underground (or “tube”) and do what we could! so we started at Big Ben and Parliament, then Westminster Abbey for their 5 o’clock “evensong” service. we were a bit jet-lagged, and had fallen asleep multiple times while riding the tube, and then we each slept through half of this evening worship service… but it was beautiful, and the singing was amazing. that building is so intricate! I tried to draw it before we went inside, but it took 2 more times coming BACK to Westminster Abbey and sitting on the lawn in the following days before I was satisfied that it no longer looked like “it’s a small world” at Disneyland.
It was pouring rain when we came out of the service, but we walked to Trafalgar Square anyway! we had dinner at “Café in the Crypt” at St. Martin’s-in-the-field, then took off again to check out Covent Gardens, this happenin’ little area with street performers and trendy shops… we just walked through before heading to The London Eye. we went up on the ferris wheel as the sun was setting – A-mazing! and we slept like babies all night…
